Physical education during the medieval period
The medieval
period can be divided into two: the dark ages and the middle ages. The dark age
started in 476AD when the Roman Empire was conquered by the Teutonic
Barbarians. The period was tagged dark ages because of the development and
achievements in science, literature, and education were more interested in
hunting, cattle rearing, and warfare.
Factors that led to the fall of the Roman
Physical
weakness, misuse of wealth, love of idleness, moral weakness, and lack of exercise which led to poor health. During the dark ages, there were two schools
of thought: asceticism and scholasticism.

Physical Education in Nigeria
There is no
proper documentation of the origin of Physical Education in Nigeria before the coming of the colonial
masters in 1900. But like other primitive people, Nigerians have been engaging
in some form of physical education in an informal fashion. Some of these
activities include traditional wrestling, hunting, swimming, ayo game,
moonlight play, social dances, and war dances
