Technology in Sports
Technologies in sports are man-made means
developed to reach human interests or goals in or relating to a particular
sport. Technology in sports is a technical means by which athletes attempt
to improve their training and competitive surroundings in order to enhance
their overall athletic performance.
Sport technology represents a certain type of means to realize human interests
and goals in sport. Such technology ranges from body techniques, via
traditional sport equipment used by athletes within competition, to
performance-enhancing machines, substances, and methods used outside of the
competitive setting.

Technology can
help to increase a sport's participation and profile. For example: wearable
technology – encourages participants to log their levels of activity, count the
calories they burn and log their personal best times. game-style apps –
motivate people by setting challenges and rewarding achievements.
Compared to
whiteboards and post-practice reviews, technology has substantially increased
athletic potential. Technology is revolutionizing sports training by
live-tracking performances, perfecting athletic movements, enhancing
communication and virtually eliminating injuries.
Instant replay is an example of the remarkable technology being used in sports
today. With this technology, officials are able to see exactly what happened,
providing a second perspective on sports events. Instant replay is used in
games like cricket, American football, rugby, soccer, and even in combat
sports.
While technology
has facilitated perfectly legitimate advantages - from equipment to medical
treatments to nutrition – which have improved standards across sports; it has
simultaneously opened up new means of cheating.
